President of Trade Unions Confederation (KOZ) Ivan Saktor announced at a press conference on Monday that there would be a one-hour warning strike on Friday, September 26. The strike will take place between 8 and 9 AM, other information about what sectors will be involved and what forms the strike will have will be released on Thursday.
The strike will not be canceled, even after the tripartite meeting on Friday, September 19, when the highest representatives of the social partners agreed to resume social dialogue. The trade unions’ requests include to raise the minimum wage, changes in tax and pension reform, and signing of a collective agreement in the public service sector for 2004.
Unions announced in August prepared protest actions for September. The announced one-hour warning strike was preceded by a protest march on September 3 before the cabinet office in Bratislava and by another rally on September 9 before the building of parliament.
