Open-End Mutual Funds Mostly with Slight Gains Last Week

Open-end mutual funds administered by members of the Asset Management Companies Association (ASS) were doing well last week. As usual the unit value of money-market funds grew, however, growth rate was slow. Almost all bond and equity funds posted moderate gains, and mixed and master funds, also reported favorable development, according to weekly data released by ASS.

Sporo Korunovy Penazny Fond showed the highest positive weekly change among money-market funds, going up 0.22 percent. Euro Dlhopisovy Fond of Tatra Asset Management was the most successful bond fund, appreciating 0.82 percent in a week. On the other hand, yield fund CI-Dollar Bond posted the least favorable development, falling 1.68 percent last week.

KBC Equity Fund Internet was faring the best among equity funds, increasing the value of its units by 9.4 percent. CI-Teleworld Stock, followed it with 7.2 percent. KBC – Equity Fond Europe suffered the deepest loss among equity funds, going down 1.6 percent in a week. Vyvazeny Rastovy Fond of VUB Asset Management dominated mixed fund trading, which firmed 0.99 percent over the past week.

Tatra Asset Management reported the biggest net sales of SKK 134.3 million last week, followed by Asset Management of Slovenska Sporitelna with almost SKK 108 million. Bond funds were the most in demand with net sales totaling SKK 220.8 million. Only mixed funds showed negative net sales at SKK 197.5 million. Aggregate net sales of open-end mutual funds in Slovakia reached SKK 180.8 million.
