The District Court Bratislava I ordered on Monday to suspend the strike on Slovak railways. It issued a preliminary injunction which orders interrupting the strike until the lawsuit about illegality of the strike can be resolved. Spokesman for the Justice Ministry Richard Fides informed SITA on Monday evening about the court’s decision.
Railway trade unions went on an indefinite strike on Friday evening. They require the abolition of the original plan by railway company ZSSK to cancel passenger services on 25 regional lines. ZSSK projects a reduction in passenger transport to cut its costs. The strike has already halted passenger as well as cargo railway transport across Slovakia for three days. All so-far talks between trade unions, railway companies and government have failed.
